What’s in my Mailbox | The donor is the hero (nonprofit thank you)

Whatsinmymailbox

Here’s an inspirational thank you straight from my mailbox. But what makes a thank you letter inspirational? And what does inspiration do?

Desert Sounds Performing Arts recently recently appointed me one of their “shining stars.” The result? I feel like a superstar — like a hero. They made me feel special, and they did it in a way that was creative and actually pretty cute. Not only was it awesome, but it was inspirational, and I find myself happy to continue my support of them. See? Inspiration does things when it comes to donor relationships — it deepens them!

The letter is short but sweet, and it begins on a fantastic note. I’m a shining star — really, me?! How cool is that?

I also get a hand-written note from Jennifer Crews, the executive director, letting me know what my gift accomplished. Picturing the money I’ve given “in action” has never stopped feeling rewarding to me.

And hearing about Abigail? Well, that’s the icing on my cake, and something tells me that Desert Sounds doesn’t even know I have a daughter named Abigail!

But wait! There’s more — the cute part that was sweet enough to put a smile on my face, but not overly saccharine sweet. I got my own “shining star” certificate, and you can check it out below. It’s pretty ace stuff. Thank you, Desert Sounds, for thanking me like you did.
