What’s in my Inbox | The “new donor” opportunity you’re probably missing!

Online giving is on the rise, with some attributing upwards of a third of all revenue raised online directly to email. Email fundraising, while not free, is relatively inexpensive compared to direct mail and your opportunities for new donor prospecting are endless.

Are you taking advantage of the opportunity by welcoming new supporters into the fold?

Stellar fundraiser, Kathleen Kennedy, Program and Development Coordinator for the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection already has an exceptional email Welcome series in place (click here to view). Now she’s gone a step further, by creating a welcome series specifically for recent attendees of a Coalition event.

Kathleen writes:

“I just read your What’s In My Inbox from this week about welcome emails. I found the quote about higher open rates for welcome emails spot-on. We recently hosted the Wild & Scenic Film Festival and sent out our Welcome email series to all the new contacts we gained at the festival (with the emails revised to reflect the film festival event). I was pleasantly surprised to see really high open rates on all three emails (57%, 42%, 41%) and also happy that it stayed pretty high for all three. While a lot of our supporters come to this event, there are many people there who have never even heard of our organization and are simply people who like environmental films. I’m hopeful these new contacts will want to stay engaged and also become donors too!”

The next time you ask “where are all the new donors?” ask yourself if you’re making the most of every opportunity. Click the image below to download the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection Welcome series.
