What’s in my Inbox | Is your nonprofit’s email communications missing this key component?

What’s missing more often than not in nonprofit communications?

If you said ‘fun,’ you’re right. Who says nonprofit communications have to be dry and boring? Imparting a genuine sense of fun will go a long way towards growing your email list and encouraging action.

Case in point, this fabulous campaign from Heifer International, a nonprofit whose “mission is to work with communities to end world hunger and poverty and to care for the Earth.”

So many wins, it’s hard to know where to start:

  • The subject header: Fwd: A llama drama? arrived, featuring a personalized message from Annie Bergman that reads like a short note from a friend, urging me to take the quiz.
  • The PS: Heifer will earn 50 for each individual…
  • The quiz was clean, seamless and fun
  • I liked the opportunity to collect additional email addresses (you should be ever vigilant for opportunities for collecting new email addresses)
  • The redirect page features a stunning photo of a farmer with his llama and the opportunity to make a gift
  • Social media links

Go ahead and take Heifer’s llama quiz and see how much fun it is. Download this package by clicking the image below.
