What’s In My Mailbox | Popeye the rescued cat has a message for HSNEGA’s donors…

April 18, 2018

Just a couple of months ago, I cast my spotlight on Julie Edwards, Executive Director of The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia, and Basics & More Alum.  Julia navigates fundraising, major gifts, and planned giving over at HSNEGA. You might remember my post about her amazing Facebook Live session, where she gave supporters a heavy dose of genuine, heartfelt gratitude, alongside a grateful pregnant pup named Nala. Stop over here if you need to refresh your memory or if you’ve got no clue what I’m talking about, because the recorded clip of the live session is worth watching. These seven minutes will provide a world of insight on how your nonprofit can work Facebook Live the right way.

Anyway, I’m going to talk about Julie again, because I got an awesomely creative letter from HSNEGA. Through this thank you letter, Julie is not only continuing a cycle of donor love that is fueled by gratitude, she’s letting Popeye the rescued tabby cat step up to represent as a feline spokesperson — er, spokescat. The letter, a lesson in great storytelling, is entirely from Popeye’s perspective. It’s cute and yet generates impact, and the genuine gratitude conveyed from start to finish is undeniable. A handwritten thank you from Julie, right next to Popeye’s “signature,” is the perfect finishing touch. Check out the full letter in all its glory below…
