To quote or not to quote …

January 30, 2011

I got so tired of hearing those proverbs when I was a child. Now I use them all the time. Sometimes they are the best way to say what needs to be said. I teach them to my students. I have a collection of proverbs for class discussion and writing assignments. — Marva Collins

Quotations.  You either love ‘em or hate ‘em.

I’ve loved quotations since I was a child.  Some of my best nonprofit copy has been prefaced by a quotation.

And some people love them on Twitter … and some people can’t stand ‘em.

I happen to love a good quotation and my Twitter stream usually features more than a few. So I decided to conduct a random survey. The results are in.

84.8% of you love quotations

9.8% don’t care for ’em. And 5.4% simply don’t care one way or another.
