SeniorsFirst, a Power of Thank You alum, is engaged in keeping senior citizens empowered, healthy, and independent. Through supportive services including meal programs, personal care assistance, companionship, and more, SeniorsFirst positively impacts a human experience that so often leaves people feeling lonely and vulnerable: getting old.

Power of Thank You, my often-imitated, never-duplicated first-of-its-kind online course, is rooted in the importance of infusing gratitude throughout your organizational culture. Created to guide nonprofit organizations in their culture, stewardship, and back-end systems, it’s clear to me that SeniorsFirst not only registered for class, but showed up, paid attention, and implemented.

Check out this heartfelt note that their receptionist, Bernise, sent me. It’s undeniable, especially here and now: the power of hand-written is strong, particularly in a technology-driven world, and this mode of communication creates a personal connection. The note was in response to an online gift, warmly embracing yet another Power of Thank You tenet: to promptly following up online gifts through direct mail communications for long-term success. The piece exemplifies a positive, inclusive nonprofit culture, one where everyone shares in both the joy and responsibility of fundraising. One where everyone reaches out in gratitude to those who make their wonderful, important work possible, in a meaningful, memorable way.
