How are nonprofit organizations using the power of direct mail to connect with their donors? Join us every Wednesday for What’s in my Mailbox!

In Simple Development Systems we recommend a minimum of ’12 touches a year’ to grow your relationships with your donors. But is every ‘touch’ an ask? No, not at all. Both the Lifetime Donor Attraction System and our Donor Love Toolkit (click for free download) recommend creating what we refer to as a Donor WOW Calendar. ‘Touches’ might include thank you phone calls, thank you cards, a donor newsletter, your organization’s Annual (AKA Gratitude) Report, a donor appreciation event, enewsletters, or photo postcards. Use your imagination, and remember to keep the donor front and center.

Case in point, this one-sheet impact report from Simple Development Systems’ member, OneJustice, a nonprofit working to increase access to legal help for under-served Californians. Great headline, ‘You brought justice where it’s needed,’ nice client quotes and photographs. Proof that your ‘touches’ needn’t be expensive or time-consuming to produce.
