Power of Nonprofit Storytelling | How are you building community with your supporters?

May 24, 2022

When your donors became involved with your mission, their support was more than likely inspired by a story.

Have you considered asking for your supporters’ stories?

My client, EmbraceRace, for the win with this email honoring the anniversary of the murder of George Floyd and requesting supporters’ stories. The message shares signs of hope and community and directs readers to a form where they can “share a story of community healing and hope.”

EmbraceRace supports parents, guardians, educators, and other caregivers working to raise children who are thoughtful, informed and brave about race so that U.S. multiracial democracy can thrive.

Involve your supporters by actively soliciting your supporters’ stories. Consider adding a share-my-story page to your website and regularly requesting stories and feedback by way of email and social media.
