What’s in my Inbox | Simple surveying

I’ve been practicing donor surveying since 2000, and was the first to preach the benefits of regularly surveying . Why? The better you get to know your donors and their reasons for supporting your mission, the easier your marketing becomes.

Yet, nonprofit organizations continue to struggle with this practice and typically arrive at surveys that are lengthy, boring, and very much organization-focused. Keep it simple. Make shorter surveying a regular part of your donor communications. Here’s an excellent example from Emily’s List. The email reminds you of why you support Emily’s List, and ends with a simple one-question survey. The survey redirects to a donate page. A quick and easy way to learn more about your donor base.
